'Castle' creator Andrew W. Marlowe steps down as show runner

The comment section at TV.com is filled with mix reactions to this passing of torch to writer John Amann by Marlowe - some said 'Castle' is becoming stale and this should be done in order to inject fresh ideas into the TV series which is running into its seventh season.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with injecting new ideas into a good show, you can either bring about better storyline or an entirely new direction if the writers are willing to take calculated risk.

I started watching 'Castle' because of the murder, the humor and the crime solving. I am not really interested in a biography of Richard Castle or his life from a NYPD 'consultant' to becoming the husband of Detective Katherine Beckett - to me that is boring. That man has been married twice and still sleeps with his ex-wives, still keeps score on how great their sex is with one of them ... I can't really relate to that, but I absolutely LOVE how he comes up with hilarious theories every time when assisting the 12th with their crime solving, and being instrumental in helping them solve some of the toughest cases.

Castle is really good at that (providing 'dumb' theories), and that is keeps me going. Week after week I am glued to a new episode wondering how deep each new cases would go and how Castle would provide new (and sometimes hilariously similar) theories to assist Beckett in bringing about closure.

It's 40+ minutes of fun, intrigue and suspense.
