A pacing SIBERIAN TIGER at the Tennoji Zoo, Osaka, Japan

I am absolutely sure the only protection between me and this ferocious and rather impatient adult Siberian Tiger is a piece of glass. At the Osaka Tennoji Zoo, visitors like me get to have an up close and personal experience with some of the most rare and exotic animals in the world.

And this is not a zoo tucked away in some large piece of land in the outskirt of Osaka, but slapped in the middle of Tennoji town, or known in Japan as Tennoji 'Ward'. Admission is only 500 Yen if you are not holding the Osaka Amazing Pass, free admission if you do.

For those who rather not spend time in a zoo full of dangerous exotic animals, there is the option of a shopping and food haven in the form of Shinseikai, which is directly opposite the zoo. For the fans of cultural buildings, there is also the Isshinji Temple, which is also adjacent to the zoo.
